Manchester United have confirmed midfielder Michael Carrick has signed a new deal on Friday.
The 33-year-old’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season and he has signed a new one-year deal to extend his Old Trafford stay till the end of 2016. He has been highly influential in United’s midfield over the years.
A statement on United’s official website read, ” Michael Carrick signs one-year contract extension. Michael Carrick has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2016.”
“The influential midfielder has registered 376 appearances in his Reds career and scored 23 goals, most recently netting a technically impressive header during last weekend’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, the club he joined from in the summer of 2006.”

Carrick played a key role after returning to starting XI during United’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League clash at home last weekend. The Dutchman will be hoping to rely on his services later this weekend when the Red Devils travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.
